Mya Baltes, LLMSW
Clinical Therapist
Life has a way of sneaking up on people, even when everything seems to be going right. These moments can leave individuals feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, or knocked off balance. It is important to know that no one has to move through those experiences alone. Seeking support is a quiet act of bravery; it does not mean someone is broken or damaged. Instead, it reflects an understanding that they deserve care and compassion. In therapy, Mya provides an open space grounded in compassion, honesty, and neutrality, where clients can explore their experiences, reconnect with their values, and ensure their actions reflect the person they truly want to be.
Mya believes that individuals grow and heal when they feel supported and encouraged to trust themselves. Her role is to walk alongside clients as they explore their experiences, discover their strengths, and develop tools to live with greater clarity and confidence. Her goal is for clients to leave therapy feeling not only heard but empowered to support their own healing and continue their growth beyond the therapy space.
Mya completed a Master of Social Work at Wayne State University and previously interned at the Office of Sexual Violence Prevention and Education as well as in a private practice, experiences that strengthened her commitment to trauma‑informed, client‑centered care. She has experience working with individuals ages 12 and up, supporting those navigating trauma and a wide range of mental health concerns. Her therapeutic style is integrative, drawing from psychodynamic, cognitive‑behavioral, humanistic, and other evidence‑based approaches. Every person’s experience is unique, and Mya strives to create a space that reflects each client’s needs and supports the growth and future they deserve.

You might be feeling overwhelmed by stress, anxiety, relationship issues, or life transitions - or you may be watching your teen struggle with the same. I provide a solution-focused space designed to help both adults and adolescents untangle these concerns and build immediate, healthy coping skills. Whether you're facing intense decision-making, navigating a personal crisis, or feeling paralyzed about a career path, I am here to help you stabilize, refocus, and move forward with confidence.
My approach is practical and collaborative. I work closely with clients through individual therapy and targeted skill-building to help regulate emotions and resolve conflicts. For teens, true support extends past the therapy space; I frequently coordinate care with families, teachers, and agencies to create a strong network of support and success.
With nearly 30 years of counseling experience- including two decades with Livonia Public Schools and my current work with Wayne RESA- I want you to feel confident that I understand the unique systems both youth and adults navigate, ensuring you receive experienced and reliable support.
